The toll of the unclaimed attack on the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul is 3 dead and at least 21 wounded. The victims would be part of the commando that stormed the accommodation facility, frequented mainly by diplomats and Chinese citizens. In the firefight with Afghan security forces, the attackers were reportedly killed. Two foreigners were injured while trying to escape by jumping from the hotel’s balcony, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid wrote on Twitter. Already in 2011, the Intercontinental had been the target of an attack, which cost the lives of 21 people. According to Emergency, which runs a hospital one kilometer from the scene of the incident, ”the injured were transported to the scene, three men were already dead on arrival at the hospital.”
