One person was injured in a shooting in Amsterdam on Tuesday afternoon. The injured were being treated at a local hospital, but it was not immediately clear how the injured got there. The victim’s condition has not been disclosed.

Gunshots were heard near the Viking Pad in Amsterdam’s north district around 4 p.m., police said. One man was detained when police arrived on the scene. This person was treated as a person of interest and taken to the police station for questioning.

Not far from there, police were searching a red Dacia Sandero stairway parked in front of Boven IJ Hospital. Pictures from the scene showed the Belgian license plated car had blood stains all over its front end, including the grille and bumper.

Police are investigating whether the man in custody opened fire and the motive for the incident. Local media AT5 reported that a witness saw the shooting and called the police.

The area around the Viking Pad was cordoned off, as was the area around the hospital car. Police say the case is still under investigation.
